Issue 7

There is definatly a double standard when it comes to gender and sexuality. Women get scrutinized more than men on less scandelous acts. I think it is important to keep personal lives out of politics but with the internet and social networking sites it is becoming increasingly difficult in this digital age. Even in the privacy of your own home, pictures from a party you have with your friends are bound to end up on the internet. I think that Ball comparing herself to Hillary Clinton wasn't too out of line because they are both victims and both have to hold their head up high even though the two had completly different reasons for having to do so. They both had to decide internaly to stand up and face the issues instead of hiding away in embarassment.

I think with political candidates, everyone should take into mind that photos from the past are just that: from the past. Most teenagers and young adults do things they shouldn't or things that older adults would deem imature and stupid but we all know that it happens. In six years people can change, realize they are doing silly things and need to grow up and it is possible to do so in that amount of time. With today no "moment" is safe because a picture can be taken at any second.
