Issue #7

In a sense, I feel bad for ball. Politics is a nasty game, and most all politicians will do whatever they can possible to find "dirt" on the other person and use it against them. I'm sure that if Ball were in a similar situation, she would have let the secret information slide as well.
It is a shame that privacy has become so public, however it is also a part of a politician's life. While I don't really think somewhat "sexy" Halloween pictures are justifiably a bad thing, I do believe that people having affairs, etc. need to be brought into the public. Someone that doesn't have strong personal morals definitely should not be representing our country in any way.
That being said, I really hate Ball's response to all of the criticism. Rather than simply admitting her fault and trying to move forward, Ball tries to make the whole scheme a women's issue. She complains that her opponent was just trying to make her look like a whore. I find this completely untrue and really utterly absurd. Many, many men have had similar situations happen to them and have been heavily looked down upon while in the public eye as well. This is not a women's issue; it is the simple fact that politicians must accept that when they do things in their private life, they are fair game for their private life. I honestly feel that Ball was simply trying to glorify herself in comparing herself to Hilary; Hilary's HUSBAND did something wrong, not Hillary herself. Sorry Ball, but that is not the same situation. Overall, I feel it is kind of a shame that private lives have become so public with politicians, but rather than complaining, politicians must simply step up and admit any wrongdoings.
