Issue #7

I believe that the Double-standard is a huge issue facing our society. I understand that many people would view a woman as a "whore", if she were believed to be involved in any sexual activities known outside of the business and political world. And converse to that, I believe men are believed to be "studs" as well. The problem with the double-standard is that it makes it hard for women such as Krystal Ball to be in office, due to the recent release of the photo of her at a party performing an obscene gesture on a co-worker.

Like it or not, the new social agenda is the internet. The things we post, or are posted about us, are subject to review by a number of people. If something has been done, we should assume that it has been lamented and recorded for future use. The fact that a revealing photo has been released should not deter Mrs. Ball, but should keep her going on her tract to be in Congress. I believe that the lesser of two evils is still the number one determinant for voters. When it came to Bush and Gore, one of the deciding factors of the campaign was the restoration of Honor and Dignity to the White House, proposed by Bush.

It is hard to maintain a constant watch over everything that is said and posted on the internet. I think that these things will happen again and that smear campaigns will never go out of style.
