Issue #2 Email Communication

As technology increases, face to face communication decreases. As this happens, the door to miscommunication not only opens wider, but causes unnecessary grief. Like the subjects in Leahy's article, I feel that I do a fairly decent job at interpreting emails. However, there is always ground for misunderstandings, especially when dealing with text instead of verbal communication. The article states that the recipients got the tone right only fifty percent of the time. While this does support the idea that there are a great number of ways you can interpret things, it doesn't account for the number of miscommunications in verbal communication. Any time you have someone using sarcasm there is a likelihood they will be misinterpreted. As long as we take into account the audience that will be receiving the message, tweak the message accordingly, and keep the message short and to the point then the recipient should have no problems decoding the desired meaning.
